Adding music to the Arduino Sketch

Now that all the bugs are sorted out and the boolean functions are functioning it is time to add a bit of sound. Before using the computer keyboard I played around with ascending and descending tones on the piano keyboard. Digital is all well and good but the tactile interface of an analogue device is always preferable (which is what this assignment is all about). Using a scale of notes is much more pleasing to the ear than just a bunch of random sounds. The next step is to figure out the correct code to make the piezo buzzer play approximations of the notes that I want. Thankfully the internet is our friend here. Portable Boxing Ring

The ring is very important in the sport of Boxing. The fighting space was once a circle drawn in the dirt. This 'ring' has developed to that of the 'squared circle' of modern boxing. The ring holds a very important physical and psychological role; that of delineating space. The posts and ropes create two separate spaces, the playing space and the spectator space. This builds a very important stance in both the spectators and the players. An actor or musician has the stage, a footballer has a field, a swimmer has the pool, and the boxer has the ring. This is the space where the action happens. It's where and when the public realm ends and the game (show) begins. Without it you just have two people in costumes hitting each other. With the evolution of boxing came an evolution of the ring. It is time for this to happen again. The Intelli-Post, the electronic timing and scoring device will be made the same way an aluminium bodied torch is. Starting with a standard extruded aluminium tube, slots for the control panel / led arrays will be laser cut. An internal thread will then be milled into each end to allow the fitting of removable end caps. The end caps can be injection moulded. One of the end caps will have input buttons on the top (on/off/mode). The other end cap will have the Bluetooth connect button as this is a seldom used control. The electronics can be inserted into the tube along with a battery pack. For ease of use and simplification of controls the unit could be programmed by a smart phone or computer app. The addition of time up and down buttons could also allow for programming at the unit to avoid needing an app when the device is used purely as an exercise timer.
