Linear Time

To make the telling of 'time remaining' intuitive we are escaping from the arbitrary numbers on a screen that we have all learnt (digital time telling).

Instead we are using a linear array to show the increase of score, and also the diminishing of time.

This linear time has been used in Japanese Edo period (1603 - 1868) time keeping devices known as Shaku-dokei.

In this style of clock the time marker starts at the top and slowly moves down the face, clearly showing the time elapsed as part of a whole.

It gives strong references to beginning and end which I feel is better suited to timing events, rather than the eternal cycling of time used in our traditional European round clock faces.

We will be mimiking this by using LED arrays.
