Scoring Boxing

Looking at how boxing is often scored should help us as we move ahead with the ModBox project.

The Compubox system, developed by Bob Canobbio in the mid-1980's is often used in televised professional matches.

It is a scoring system that uses two judges to enter the hits of each player. The hit types are Jab connect, Jab miss, Power punch connect, power punch miss. The computer builds a hit to miss ratio based on this data which can be seen by viewers in real time.

The infrastructure already in place with modbox should make it easy to display hit data as it is already being gathered. The big improvement is to share it with viewers and players in real-time, not just coaches.
