Flowcharts and Thoughts of Bed

One of the many, many in class activities was to create a flowchart for an everyday interaction.
I chose drinking from a water bottle.

Here is it...

Dan (lecturer of the day), then created one showing where sensors and feedback could be inserted into a 'smart bottle'. This will be helpful for the upcoming tech task.

Thinking more about auto-making beds, ejector beds, and self-storing beds...

What about a bed that rewards you for getting up on time.
It could dispense a gold star or better or a little award saying "I got out of bed on time". You could put it on your "Grown Man Starchart", just before the stars for "Shaved without cutting myself" and "Avoided making direct eye contact with anyone on the train".

What about a bed that literally helps you to "Rise and Shine"
The 'shine' could be ever increasing brightness on the inbuilt lighting (this is not a new idea for alarm clocks). If the light has reached full strength then the 'rise' function activates. The bed can slowly angle upwards until the user is in a standing position at the foot of the bed.
As a play on words, the bed could be called, "Shine & Rise".

This makes me think of the bed in Wallace and Gromit which makes me laugh every time I see the hapless expression on Wallace's face.

Perhaps an intermediate step where the blankets retract into the foot of the bed to encourage you to get up before the bed tips you out would be a little more civil. This would stop the blankets from ending up as a mess on the floor too. They could retract into a blanket box at the foot of the bed for tidy storage until you go back to bed again.

The flowchart would look like this...
