Initial Concepts for the ModBox Project

During the research phase several initial ideas surfaced for new products to enhance the ModBox experience.

These are...

Gamification - how can the integrated electronics be enhanced to create 'games' and training drills?

An integrated unit for the secure storage, transportation, maintenance and operation of all the gear need for a ModBox game.
It would enable coaches and organisers to efficiently run ModBox programs by giving everything a space while keeping essential components together. It would also serve as a base for camers, scoreboards and the game computer.

Adjustable Sensor Vests are designed to replace the existing ModBox shirts / vests. Taking inspiration from netball bibs, these are a uniform neutral colour over-vest.
Each team or club could wear their own uniform underneath, giving a stronger focus on teams, rather than individuals while opening up the possibility of players wearing more colours that the traditional red and blue.

Real-Time feedback vests show a light when and where a hit is made.

A Smart Punching Bag is a ‘connected’ wall mounted punching bag that measures input from a player’s hits and gives appropriate and immediate visual and auditory feedback
This input can include…
·       pressure
·       speed
·       accuracy
·       timing
·       duration and endurance

The smart bag could share data on a player with the coaching team.

Pressure Gloves allow for a player to receive real time feedback on how hard (or soft) they are hitting a target.  This is important element of training in a sport like ModBox where high impact hits are discouraged.

Smart Gloves –with NFC or electrical pulse with a signature emitted from the glove to eliminate self-hits.
